Many think since juice is “natural” it is healthy. But a cup of juice can have as much or more calories than a cup of soda, is absorbed quickly (spiking your blood sugar levels…this is bad!) and has often been stripped of the fiber and other nutrients. It is always better to eat the fruit or vegetable instead of drinking the juice. Actually chewing and digesting food slows down the digestion and absorption process allowing for more stable insulin and hormone levels. Additionally, liquid calories go down fast, can carry a lot of calories, but fail to fill you up. If you would still prefer to not eat the food, try blending instead of juicing. Our relationship with food and ability to control our eating habits will ultimately determine our health status (including weight-gain or loss). The reason for this is simple; you can’t sleep or exercise your way out of a bad diet. And while proper nutrition is two-fold, learning to eat the right amount of food is the first step and if followed, could eliminate obesity by itself.
This is easier said than done, so for more tips on eating the right amount of food visit our "Learn Nutrition" section by clicking HERE. Happy New Year! Our free website is now LIVE!
